A local businessman introduced me to the famous lunch, mapo Tantanmen(noodles)! The soft tofu soaks up the soup and adds a nice accent to the exquisite spiciness and richness of sesame. The tofu whets your appetite even more. It’s so delicious!!! It’s an addictive taste.
At night, it’s a very high-class Chinese restaurant called “Chugoku Hanten”, but don’t worry about lunch! It’s reasonably priced. It seems that the Mapo Tantanmen for lunch are very famous on the streets.
I took a Brazilian friend there and he loved it so much that we went back together many times! It’s a famous Mapo Tantanmen that I would like foreigners to come and try. Even after returning to Japan, they miss the Mapo Tantanmen from Brazil.

The noodles are a little thick. It’s simple, just tofu and noodles. It also contains minced meat and green onions!
If you like it even spicier, try Mala Tantanmen!
The names are similar and can be confusing, but the one with tofu is called “Mapo” Tantanmen , and the one with spices is called “Mala” Tantanmen.
Of course, all the other menu items are delicious too!!! I always end up just enjoying the Tantanmen…
