An immersive experience called “Immersive Journey” based on the Pyramid of Khufu in Egypt is now available in Yokohama. You can enjoy this amazing experience on the third floor of “Asobuild,” a multi-purpose entertainment building directly connected to Yokohama Station.

Reception
The facility can accommodate up to 75 people at a time, and same-day registration is available, but it is very popular, so it is safer to make a reservation for your preferred time slot. First, everyone gathers together to confirm the precautions, and then completes the registration process.

In order to enjoy your trip to Egypt, it is a good idea to check in and then put all your stuff in a locker. There are plenty of lockers available.

Multilingual support!
Gather at the entrance in groups. First, select your language. This tour is available in Japanese, English, French, Chinese, and Spanish. It’s great that you can choose different languages within your team. You can enjoy the same experience in your native language. Next, put on the head-mounted display. The staff will do this for you, so just leave it to them. Team members will see their avatars in purple with their nicknames displayed above their heads. Non-team members will appear as white avatars.
Let’s go on a pyrmid trip!
The scenery suddenly changes, and we start walking toward the blue frame. We stand in a wide, fantastical space. Mona, our guide, appears and leads us inside the pyramid. Mona’s movements are so smooth that it feels like she is really there, which is surprising. From there, it’s one emotional experience after another. You can enter the interior of a tomb not open to the public, feel the acoustics resonating inside the pyramid. In reality, you’re just walking around a flat floor of about 1,000 square meters, but you can experience a tour of King Khufu’s pyramid from every angle.
You can also stand at the top of the pyramid and look out over the city. The height is so high that it’s a bit scary. Even though you’re just in a building in Yokohama, the immersion is incredible.
You can see the worldview of ancient Egypt and how mummies were made, and you can even participate in King Khufu’s funeral. You’ll be introduced to his family members. I was surprised to see how well-built the Egyptians were. Finally, you’ll have the incredible experience of boarding the boat that carried the deceased to their final resting place.

There is a possibility of colliding with other groups experiencing the attraction before and after you, or bumping into walls, but the avoidance system is excellent. You can avoid collisions by giving way to each other, as other people’s avatars are faintly visible. Walls and other obstacles appear in red patterns when you approach them, allowing you to recognize the danger.
Explanation and setup take about 15 minutes. The VR experience lasts approximately 45 minutes. It’s a lot of fun. Since it’s an attraction not affected by weather, it’s a great spot to visit. Definitely give it a try with family and friends!
