While you are in Japan, why not visit the Fuji-Kawaguchiko Herb Garden　～tour #147~

Herb gardens can be found in many places these days. The greatest feature of the Fuji-Kawaguchiko Herb Garden is that you can see Mt. Fuji, you can enjoy the herb garden while viewing the magnificent Mt.Fuji.

Unfortunately, I visited in winter, so the garden was not in the best condition, but I enjoyed the large greenhouse and the store.

Winter’s Unique Pleasures

There are some advantages to visiting in winter. You can see “Fuji Ice Art,” a fantastic wreath of flowers and ice. The ice art is handmade one by one, and the staff members make them every morning. Therefore, it is rich in individuality. Of course, it has to be cold or it will melt, so you will feel rather lucky that ‘it is cold today’. The clear ice was filled with colorful flowers, which sparkled and looked beautiful with the movement of the wind.

Large greenhouse

Two large greenhouses have been built. Inside these greenhouses, of course, it is warm. On hot days, they are transformed into “large cool rooms” using air conditioners! That’s because the plants get tired when it’s hot.

Inside the greenhouse, herbs and colorful flowers are growing nicely. Even though it was bitterly cold outside at the foot of Mt. Fuji, it was warm inside the greenhouse, and the flowers were beautiful.

All the herbs in the large greenhouse can be touched. If you find an herb leaf that interests you, you can rub it lightly with your finger and enjoy its fragrance. The staff in the greenhouse were all friendly and kind enough to tell us about the features of the flowers and herbs.

Herb Shop

This is the store. Inside you will find hand creams, herb teas, soaps, potpourri, and other products made from herbs. You can enjoy shopping with products made from herbs that you enjoyed smelling in the greenhouse.

The shopkeeper is a good talker, and I purchased natural cosmetics made with extracts from rose geraniums grown in-house in the herb garden. The pleasure of buying something unintended from a new encounter is one of the joys of traveling, isn’t it?

When you want to relax a little away from the tourist attractions of Mt.Fuji. This is an ideal spot to visit. The colorful flowers and aroma of herbs will soothe you at this spot.
