Misogi Shrine is renowned as the only shrine where Shinto wedding ceremonies can be held on a Noh stage. It is a very beautiful shrine with an expansive Noh stage.

Noh Gakuden

They have built a Nohgakuden inside the shrine as a symbol of traditional Japanese spiritual culture. The stage is made entirely of Kiso cypress and floats on a sacred pond, creating a very solemn atmosphere.

Misogi

Misogi, the name of the shrine, means to purify the body with water to eliminate sins and impurities, and water is important to the shrine. The water from Mt. Yatsugatake has been gushing out for 80 years.

Yuzu

Yuzu, a Japanese folk/pop rock duo, Yuzu’s Yujin Kitagawa was married here in 2011, and they hold a live concert on the Noh stage every year on the winter solstice. It is also famous as a sacred place for Yuzu fans.

Misogi Shrine” is surrounded by rich nature at the southern foot of Yatsugatake. The precincts of the shrine are kept clean and neat, and you can visit the shrine comfortably, so please visit with a foreigner.
