日本語版

‘Senbei Kobo’ is located in Yamaga Onsen, Kumamoto Prefecture. It has a good old storefront, doesn’t it? Here, you can experience the excitement of hand-baked rice crackers sitting in front of a special kiln. The handmade rice crackers are made with carefully selected Kumamoto rice and high-quality natural salt.

The experience is an amazing 2 seconds

Sitting in this chair, a iron-like object filled with grains of rice is placed on a kiln at 250 degrees Celsius and pressure is applied to bake the rice.

Rice cracker baking experience

The owner of the store will be there to support you how to do it, so nothing is too difficult. It’s just applying pressure on the top while baking the rice cracker. 2 seconds, so everything is done in an instant. It is ready in no time. The rice crackers are thin, crispy, and delicious.

A wide variety of rice crackers

Various flavors of rice crackers are available, including shrimp, salt, and seaweed flavors. They are reasonably priced, lightweight, and most importantly, delicious, so they make great souvenirs.

If you visit Kumamoto Prefecture, be sure to try your hand at baking rice crackers at the Senbei Kobo. You can easily recognize the roasting aroma through the air. The owner is very friendly and you will definitely have a good time.

In Yamaga, I also recommend the Kaku-uchi shop (a corner standing bar) at Chiyono-sono
