The Grand Mercure Yatsugatake Resort & Spa is located in Yatsugatake with beautiful mountain scenery including Yatsugatake, Southern Alps, and Mt. Fuji. The hotel operation has been replaced and is now a hotel that all generations can enjoy. If you are with your family to Japan especially with children, this is the hotel for you.

Kids love this place
The kids’ space “Morino 8 (Morino Eito)” is located in the basement. This place probably used to be a banquet hall where receptions and other events were held. So the ceiling is high and spacious. The spacious indoor play area, including a wooden jungle gym and bouldering wall, is wonderfully well equipped. Children are running around with great energy. It’s a clean place and parents can watch their kids with peace of mind. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Child-Friendly Dining
There is a children’s buffet, low enough to accommodate children’s height. They can take their own trays and cups. Of course, there is a full children’s menu.

The menu is full of kid-pleasing items, such as shaved ice, ice cream, and a pasta bar. It’s a gentle reminder that the menu is made to fit children’s height.

Not necessarily just for kids, but they also have a full doughnut board and pastries. I wonder if it’s because they are French-affiliated.

All-inclusive and hot springs, fun for adults
And this place is fun for adults too, of course. In this lounge, from 3:00 p.m., there is a welcome service of free drinks and snacks, which is nice relaxing touch. Especially in the evening, everyone’s favorite Yamanashi local sweets Shingenmochi rice cakes are also served. And in the evening, you can enjoy a nightcap. Since this is an all-inclusive plan, you can also enjoy alcoholic beverages while having a delicious meal.
Of course, there is also a full range of hot springs. You can enjoy the “sodium bicarbonate spring” known as the “hot water of beauty” in the indoor and outdoor hot spring rock baths. Soaking in the baths at night under a star-filled sky will refresh your body and mind. After soaking in the bath, you can enjoy the blissful moment of drinking amazake (sweet sake)

Fun for Everyone
The rooftop observation deck offers 360-degree views of the mountains. Doors to the rooftop open at sunrise, so early morning is recommended. During the daytime, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Yatsugatake Mountains, Mt.Fuji, and the Southern Alps.

At night, star gazing parties are held. The star-filled sky seen from the deck is wonderful, but watching the stars in the dome while listening to the explanation will be a memorable experience.

There are walking paths around the hotel.

Since it was winter, the trees had lost their leaves. But there were signs explaining the paths, and the soft sunlight made for a pleasant walk.

There were families with three or four generations and groups of friends, and the hotel had a great atmosphere. I heard that outdoor activities such as bonfires and roasted marshmallows are also planned, so you will be lucky if you come across them at the right time. It is a wonderful place with mountains, starry skies, nature, hot springs, and delicious food. If you are visiting Japan with your family, this is the place to stay.
