There is a large Japanese house packed with craftsmanship. The vast mansion that the founder built for his mother was built using the best technique of the time from all over the country, and has been designated as a national important cultural property as it is a structure that cannot be recreated in modern times.

A luxurious mansion with a garden, tea room, and museum
Look at this map (on the left)! ! ! There are many rooms. (This map shows only the first floor, but the middle building has two floors as well…) A tatami corridor connects the three buildings, and is about 100 meters long. How spacious is it! ! !
The overall map is shown on the right. You can see the locations of museums(③), gardens(⑥) tea rooms(⑦), and offices(④).
You will never get tired of looking at the craftsmanship in the details!
As you look at the many rooms, you will notice that there are many areas that have been elaborately designed. The design has been thoroughly thought out, even to the point where it looks like it could be made into a simple board.
The wooden frame of the shoji screen in the room has very detailed patterns on it.↓
This is a lamp that was attached to the hallway outside the hall. The design of the beams on the ceiling is also intricate, and it looks wonderful when you imagine it illuminated by lamps at night.
The sliding doors are also decorated with various pictures.
The living room had a hearth and a large Buddhist altar, creating a warm atmosphere.
The edges of all the glass in the hallway were carved slightly diagonally, a delicate technique that gave it a three-dimensional appearance. The photo on the right is the Buddhist altar. The pattern on the wall above the clouds was a pale gold color, creating a quiet and solemn atmosphere.
This photo is the transom in the hall. It is made by hollowing out or carving out flower patterns. The bottom tier had a flower shape drawn out from the lines and seemed to be floating, but there were small parts that were attached to the base. What a great technique!
There are many kuma bamboo grass (Sasa veitchii) in the garden that make a rustling noise when the wind blows. Combined with the garden stones, it gave me a sense of wabi-sabi.
The entrance with a large stone is also nice.
The theme of the museum in March 2023 was “The World of Hina”!
Since I visited in early March, the theme was Doll’s Festival.
There was also a huge Hina doll set displayed inside the mansion.
The garden is also nice.
