A hidden gem of a Spanish bar! ~Zion~ @ Saitama

Zion Foods in English

There are quite a few chain restaurants in Omiya, Saitama City, but amidst them all, I discovered a hidden gem of a Spanish bar that’s a cut above the rest!! Down a narrow alley, I happened to pop in and found a small shop where a photo of paella caught my eye!

Believe it or not, lunch is only served on Wednesdays and Thursdays. That’s pretty bold. And there are only 10 servings available! Oh man, I want to try it! Plus, it looks like a really substantial lunch set—it even comes with dessert.

Ta-da! Even the appetizers are stylish… Asparagus soup and today’s pinchos—thin slices of bread topped with salmon and olives. Oh, this is delicious. These carefully crafted appetizers really get me excited.

So, how about the main paella!? The squid ink paella is sooooo good!!! It’s beautifully colored, too. Personally, I really appreciate that they serve it on a plate like this—it’s so convenient. Scraping the crispy bits off the hot griddle and eating them is delicious, but having it served on a plate is much easier for a quick lunch.

It’s so good—the squid ink really soaks into the rice. I could definitely go for seconds.

Even the dessert is stylish! It’s Basque cheesecake with vanilla ice cream! So delicious. Isn’t 1,500 yen a bargain for this? It’s such a great deal. I got so caught up in eating that I completely forgot to take a picture.

Next time, I’d like to try the seafood paella.
